Occupational Therapy for children

The department is manned by an occupational therapist, rehabilitation technician and a therapy assistant. Age range catered for is from birth to the age of 13 years and these come from schools, nurseries, preschools, hospitals, Doctors and other rehabilitation centres. Children aged from 14years are then treated in the adult section.

The conditions seen include autism spectrum disorders, motor skills disorders, balance problems, visual/perceptual disorders, genetic syndromes, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injuries, sensory integration disorders, musculoskeletal or orthopaedic injuries, post surgical conditions and spinal cord injuries. The department helps children gain independence and promotes development of fine motor skills, sensory motor skills, and visual motor skills that children need to function and socialize in their home,school, play and community environments.
